The recently released Nokia X2 offers something different for the mobile phone enthusiast. The unit is both compact and lightweight, measuring 111 mm x 47 millimetres wide whilst being 13 mm thick. In addition the unit weighs just 81 g in weight, however within this aesthetically appealing body it is able to provide an impressive level of technology, sufficient to satisfy the curiosity and desires of most.
One of the key features is its impressive 2.2 inch display screen which is TFT in nature and which, within its 240 x 320 pixel screen size is able to display up to 256,000 colours. This ensures imagery displayed is both vibrant and reproduced with effective colour. In addition the handset offers the option of ring or vibration alert options with the added bonus of MP3 files being able to be utilised as ringtones.
The handset comes with the standard SMS, MMS and e-mail facilities as well as instant messaging and a WAP 2.0 browser. Available in red on black or blue or silver the unit offers a phone book and call record function as well as a speakerphone which comes with stereo speakers. In addition a 3.5 mm audio jack as well as dedicated music keys are provided.
A 5.0 megapixel camera, which operates at 2592 x 1944 pixels is offered which comes with an LED flash as well as being able to be utilised as a video capture device. In addition to allow editing of imagery, a useful photo editor is included. Entertainment is offered by virtue of a stereo FM radio which comes with RDS as well as having a built-in antenna, a variety of games including Sudoku and an MP4/MP3 media player.
Class 32 versions of both EDGE and GPRS are incorporated within the unit as well as micro USB and Bluetooth connectivity. Internal memory capacity is quoted at 48 MB, with the added benefit of being able to utilise the integrated microSD card slot and relevant cards, to increase the capacity to a more creditable 16 GB.
The Nokia X2 is one of the recent latest generation handsets from Nokia, all of which combine aesthetic appeal and functionality. This particular unit offers a wide range of useful features, whilst retaining an affordable element that will appeal to most.
